20th June

in the beautiful spacious and well ventilated Pavilion and outdoor spaces of Wasing Park, Aldermaston, RG7 4NG

Myself and artist Karen Utting are thrilled to be offering these wellbeing based sessions where your children will be gently guided in practicing playful and creative tools for their mental, emotional and physical health. In each session, we will explore mindful and creative activities including yoga, breathing exercises, sensory games, making art for self expression and connection, mindful eating at snack time, storytelling and relaxation techniques.

Karen, also a mum of two, is passionate about the benefits art can bring for our wellbeing as a means of connecting with ourselves inwardly and as a mindful practice. She currently works as a community artist and facilitator and has plenty of experience facilitating for children having been a Beaver Leader for 2 years.

£30 per child per session (book one or as many sessions as suits you), with art materials and healthy snack included.

I am very much looking forward to welcoming you and your family members to Wasing’s stunning parkland and walled gardens for these opportunities to spend some peaceful time together in nature exploring photography and art as mindful activities for wellbeing.
*
This is a wonderful way to relax and connect with each other and with your innate creativity – yes, I whole-heartedly believe that all of us have the ability to be creative in our own unique way, are happier and healthier for embracing it and that the world is a better place when we let ourselves explore it!
*
For the first half of the workshop we will use our camera lenses (any will do; phone, tablet, compact and/or SLR) to help guide our attention away from the preoccupations and chatter of the mind and into the present moment, noticing the fascinating, beautiful and uplifting details that surround us.
*
After a brief pit stop we will gather our art materials (provided for you) and let nature inspire us to create and express ourselves without any agenda or pressure to make a ‘finished’ piece.
*
These workshops are intended to help us notice, but not be put off by, our inner critics; the notion of being ‘good’ or ‘bad’ at art is not one that has a place in our space!
*
£20 per person with groups of 4 or more enjoying the forth place, and each place thereafter, at a  half price discount.

Wasing Wellbeing and Brilliant Beings are fully Covid compliant and will be taking every care to adhere to social distancing and cleanliness guidance.

  • Adult Introduction to Mindful Photography;

Two dates, two locations!

23rd June 2021, 7 – 8.30pm at Wasing Park, Aldermaston

18th August 2021, 7 – 8.30pm at Creative Spaces in Caversham, Reading

You will be guided in allowing your eyes and your lens to assist in your slowing down so that the visual details of the present moment can be observed with a sense of playful, non judgmental, curiosity. When we start to experience our present moment in this way the worries, preoccupations and chatter of the mind appear to quieten, the calming aspects of the nervous system are stimulated resulting in the relaxation of muscle tension and healthier functioning of our physical systems such as respiration and digestion. Our sleep quality can improve along with our overall quality of life. When we regularly practice slowing down and really seeing the details of our world we can feel more connected to life, more at home; noticing the beauty that surrounds us daily can offer us a fresh perspective and evoke a deep sense of gratitude and wonderment which uplifts the spirit and benefits our whole being.
*
N.B. Whilst Sarah can offer some technical and compositional advice if required this workshop does not focus on these aspects of photography, therefore at least a basic knowledge of how to use your chosen camera is required. Any camera can be used eg; phone, tablet, compact and/or SLR.
*
These workshops cost £20 per person and are suitable for teenagers too.
*
Please e-mail sarah@brilliant-beings.co.uk to book for the 23rd June.
*
Please visit Made By Tamalia to book for the 18th August.
*
I look forward to greeting you and your lens!

  • SCHOOLS, HOME ED. GROUPS and PRE-SCHOOLS

As Brilliant Beings I can offer mindfulness, yoga and peer-to-peer massage classes, or a mixture of all or some of these, in educational settings to children between the ages of 2 to 16.

I am also happy to offer mindfulness and relaxation sessions for the adults working with children in various settings (during or out of school hours) so that they can de-stress and learn to feel the benefits of mindful practice for themselves.

Whilst based in West Berkshire, I am happy to consider travelling further afield.

I am also delighted to be working with the innovative charity Inside Out for Children  to help primary schools embed well being into their daily lives. Initiated by magical days out at Checkendon Equestrian Centre, Berkshire, teachers and pupils start to explore Inside Out’s 5 keys to happiness; Look Inside, Move Outside, Be Kind, Share More and Be Curious.

  • ONE TO ONE

Whilst social distancing is current I am very happy to offer one to one sessions in clients gardens. Alongside tailoring a session to suit your child’s individual needs and providing you with information sheets to help you practice together after your session, I love to write calming and personal guided visualisations to help them relax and calm down ready for sleep.

  • SMALL OCCASIONAL GROUPS

If there is a small group of friends interested in their children being introduced to mindfulness, private sessions for up to 5 children can also be arranged to spread cost. These can take place in one of the participants homes or in one of a few nurturing spaces we can hire around Berkshire.

  1. Hi there
I would love my son Sam (6) to have a session with you, either 1-1 or as part of a group. We live in West London but could travel if necessary.
I look forwArd to being in touch.
    With best wishes, Nix

  2. Hi Sarah,

I would love my daughter (age 6) to attend one of your classes. Do you have availibilty? Would it be possible, if I found a venue and a group of children, to arrange a class? Please let me know how much this would be.

On another note, my husband is a housemaster at Pangbourne college and I think it would be a wonderful activity for the students, would you consider working with this age group?

    Yours,
    Milly Lewis
